Dated 1639, the White Hart has played an important part of village life in Moretonhampstead for centuries and is a Grade II listed building due to its historic interest.

The White Hart has stood in the Market Square of Moretonhampstead for over three and a half centuries and played a pivital role in the history of the Town. Formerly a Georgian posting house, the Plymouth to London mail coaches changed horses here. During the Napoleonic Wars it was a meeting place for French Officers on parole from Dartmoor Prison.

Weddings & Functions

Our new function room, The Stag Suite is a great location for civil Weddings, wedding receptions, Birthdays parties and celebrations as well as corporate team building and meetings. It can accommodate 60 people theatre style or 55 for a Banquet and is fully equipped with its own bar and toilets. Bedrooms & Facilities

The White Hart offers tastefully decorated Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Our 20 bedrooms can accommodate up to 42 people.  All the bedrooms have been decorated to retain their original charm, offering ensuite facilities, luxurious Spring Sprung beds, flat screen TV's, CD players and coffee and tea making facilities.

As a White Hart resident, we can offer you a special rate to use Bovey Castles Spa treatments and Estate Activities (including fishing, Shooting and the Old Championship Golf Course). However, these must be booked in advance through the White Hart to avoid disappointment.
